Dissolve the shellac in the alcohol, stirring constantly. In a ratio of 1:3 (e.g. 50 g shellac + 150 g alcohol). After the shellac has dissolved, filter the solution. Apply with a soaked cloth, leaving a very thin layer (practically wipe off the shellac). It is then very desirable to let the varnish cure in sunlight, turning it gradually from all sides. Repeat this several times (about 5-10 coats). If a milky spot appears on the handle, it is necessary to repeat the process and get rid of the applied varnish.
It may become difficult to dissolve with prolonged storage.
