Vacuum hardened and tempered Sleipner flat steel - hardness 62,5 HRC
Vacuum hardened and tempered Sleipner flat steel - hardness 62,5 HRC
Steel is vacuum hardened and tempered to a hardness of 62.5 HRC. It can be used immediately for blade production and thus shorten the time of knife production, or catch some "burner"... Using already hardened steel also minimizes the risk of deformation of the finished blade and eliminates the need for straightening.
Fine grain steel, relatively well resistant to deep corrosion, very suitable for the production of durable, highly stressed larger blades.
Uddeholm Sleipner is a highly alloyed chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel with a very wide profile of properties. It is also a very good steel for all kinds of surface finishes. It is characterized by good resistance to cutting wear, good resistance to facet chipping, hardness greater than 60 HRC even after higher tempering temperatures.
This steel is only suitable for belt grinder owners and cannot be drilled with conventional drills or machined with conventional hand tools! It is very hard!
