Steel with high nickel content (2%) which is used as a soft component in damascus, where it forms a silver layer. The steel gives the damascus high flexibility.

Content: C:0.75% / NI:2.0%
Hardness after hardening approximately 60 HRC.
The material is soft annealed and can be easily machined.

Ideal for making damascus steel along with 1.2842 for hard and sharp blades.

Hardening: 820 °C / tempering at 180 °C for 1 hour = approx. 60 HRC. For high flexibility hardening at 200 °C = approx. 58 HRC.

Tip for damascene steel: If you need thicker layers, simply use double or triple steel.75Ni8 is easy to weld to itself!
