Very decorative wood suitable for stabilization

Black palm is an interesting wood that comes from the outer hardened part of one species of palm tree. Although the wood is called black, it actually has only black fibers. Sometimes the fibers are very close together and the piece looks almost black. Because this wood comes only from the outer hardened areas, its dimensions can never be very large. Also interesting is the end grain of the wood, which looks like leather when viewed from a section perpendicular to the grain. When dry, the wood is quite heavy. In some cases it is a good idea to periodically reinforce the surface with a thin layer of glue when working with it. In general, the darker the piece of palm wood, the harder it is. Palm trees in general are very good for stabilization.
