Knives made from this damascus are highly valued for their unmistakable appearance and for their superior mechanical durability. This damascus is hardened by cryogenic vacuum hardening. This is a process that uses very low temperatures, far below freezing. The resulting hardness after tempering is 63 - 64 HRC.
