The base color of the wood is white with a shade of gray and only the core has incredible color and ornateness. That's why it's so rare, plus most of the core tends to be cracked, so picking out a flawless piece is sometimes an incredible feat. This is matched by the high price.

Cocobolo, also known as Rosewood cocobolo, stands out for its contrasting range of colours and highly patterned grain. It is a hard, exotic wood. Cocobolo is similar in properties to ebony. Most appreciated is the pattern and literally ornamental ornamentation that Cocobolo kernels have. As a rule, it has a fine regular texture.
