Bocote - Mexican Rosewood (Cordia elaeagnoides) is a very decorative hardwood that originates from the South American region and Mexico.
Bocote is a decorative South American hardwood very suitable for knife handles. The base colour is light brown, interspersed with dark brown, almost black veins. Bocote is very easy to polish. Due to its high oil content, the wood is well suited for turning and machining. Knifemakers like to use this wood for knife handles. It is also very popular in guitar making, for example, bocote fingerboards are often used.
The cross-sections we sell are wide-board (these are very scarce items) and are very decorative. They usually have eyelets or bitches that are compact and because they are wide board they have very contrasting black veining and a beautiful honey color.
