Carbon steel tool steel suitable for long blades

Machine carbon steel, featherweight, easy to machine, can be hardened even in domestic conditions, hardened steel is very flexible and strong. Compared to steel 1.2842 it has a finer grain after hardening. It is highly susceptible to rusting in unsuitable conditions such as humidity or contact with aggressive substances. It is very successful in the production of long and fracture-prone blades. We harden and temper this steel most often to a hardness of around 58 HRC. The material is prone to distortion during hardening, so we recommend to temper a larger amount of material before hardening, as conventional straightening attempts usually fail. In general, our supplied steel is usually bent, although it is usually waterjet cut. The greater the thickness of the steel and the smaller the width, the greater the bending. This is a general characteristic of this grade of steel.
