It is an air hardenable high carbon (2.45%) and high alloy (9.75%) tool steel with unique abrasion resistance and high hardness up to 64HRC. It is an excellent steel for knives produced by powder metallurgy. It can be sharpened to a very high quality with an edge that is extremely resistant to abrasive wear and mechanical loading from high force applications.
